Fever is a natural response to infection or illness. Many illnesses thrive at normal body temperature, and a fever (even a high one) is a good indication that the immune system is
functioning to ward off the infection. In fact, a fever is a good sign as it means that the body is responding to fight the infection, and in most cases it is part of a natural bodily response that should be allowed to continue.
Fever can be caused by bacterial or viral illness, or in rare cases by poisoning, heat stroke, environmental toxins, or a malfunctioning hypothalamus. For the majority of us, fever is caused by a simple infection (most often a virus) and will fade on its own as the body heals.
The first line of defense is very simple - wraps or bathing in lukewarm water that is 1-2 degrees lower than normal body temperature - about 35 ° C. Cooling off gradually and moderately to avoid additional "shock" the body. Do not take a shower with cold water!!
When you have a fever, the possibility of dehydration is increased, so you should drink water, natural teas and juices, light vegetable soup.
Alternative medicine recommends a series of natural resources to lower body temperature:
Apple vinegar. Prepare wraps of water with the addition of the domestic apple cider vinegar (in the ratio of 2/3 water and 1/3 vinegar), which are placed on the forehead, wrists, feet...In addition to the classic wraps, it is often recommended to soak the socks with apple vinegar, sliding them to the feet and wrapped with a towel. When the lining becomes warm, replace it with a new one. This drink can help to: Mix 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of honey in a glass of water. Drink 2-3 times a day.
Potato. Take the larger potatoes and wash well. You do not need to peel it necessarily, but in most recipes it's recommended. For the lining, potatoes can be cut into slices. Put him on the soles of the feet and slide socks over it. Wraps hold until they are dry, and then, if necessary, replace with new ones. Wraps can be placed on the forehead and on the palms.
Garlic. It helps to lower the temperature as it eliminate toxins from the body, and it's also antiviral and antibacterial. 2 large cloves garlic peel and mash and mix with 2 tablespoons olive oil. Gently heat the mixture and apply to the soles of the feet. Wrap the foot with gauze or cloth and leave overnight.
Herbal teas. It's recommended to drink teas of the following herbs: basil, elderflower, lime, sage, chamomile, mint, yarrow, safflower, borage, parsley, thyme, mustard, oregano, marjoram.
You should know this too:
There are several reasons it is better not to reduce a fever. Since fever is part of the body’s natural way of fighting illness or infection, reducing the fever can actually make the illness last longer, as it lets the cause of the illness live for a longer time.
Additionally, most conventional methods of lowering a fever can do more harm than good. Tylenol and Advil (the two medications most often given to children to reduce fever) both have side effects and cause liver failure in adults and children each year, especially when given regularly. Medications are also foreign substances in the body, which must be metabolized and filtered by the body and this takes energy the body could be using to fight the illness.
