5 Drinks You Must Avoid To Save Your Health

Considering that what we drink accounts for roughly 30% of our daily caloric intake, our overall health can be directly attributed to what we drink. Here are 5 drinks to avoid to save your health, and your waistline.

1. Soft Drinks
The reasons NOT to drink soft drinks is about as long of a list as the varieties of soft drinks available. Besides the obvious health effects like obesity, diabetes, weight gain, and caffeine addiction; soft drinks actually reach the same pH levels as battery acid – causing erosion of tooth enamel.

Diet soft drinks come with an extra health-ruining factor: Artificial Sweeteners. Research has shown that drinking diet soft drinks can lead to serious long-term health consequences because of the high amount of toxic additives and artificial sweeteners like sodium benzoate, aspartame, acesulfame potassium, sucralose, and high-fructose corns syrup.

2. Tap Water
The Safe Drinking Water act has regulated only 91 contaminants acceptable in tap water. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, there are more than 60,000 chemicals used in tap water within the US alone.

According to research studying government records done by The New York Times, many government and independent studies have scrutinized thousands of these chemicals, and they have identified hundreds of chemicals with an increased risk of cancer and other deadly diseases that are found in tap water.

That’s not even considering the addition of fluoride to drinking water. A lot of people don’t know that The fluoride chemicals used to fluoridate drinking water are: hydrofluorosilicic acid, sodium fluorosilicate, and sodium fluoride. Unlike the fluoride compounds found in toothpaste or supplements, fluoridation chemicals are not pharmaceutical grade quality. They are, instead, un-purified industrial by-products that are collected in the air pollution control systems of certain industries.

Studies involving animals have found that fluoride has toxic effect on brain tissue, leading to brain cell damage, reduced lipid content, increased aluminium uptake, impairment in anti-oxidant defensive systems, and beta-amyloid plaque. These plagues are common indication of Alzheimer’s

3. Sports Drinks
Marketing campaigns would have you believe that sports drinks are good for your body, when in reality they are just as bad – if not worse – than soft drinks. gatorade is actually just as corrosive on tooth enamel as Coke. In fact, sports drinks and drinks like Red Bull have been found to have even more corrosive effects on enamel that soft drinks and fruit juices.

Sports drinks are also jam-packed with petrochemical artificial colors to create a visually appealing beverage. Artificial colors have no nutritional value, and experts agree that sports drinks are waste of money. Not to mention their long list of harmful effects on health.

4. Pasteurized Milk
The pasteurization process of milk destroys enzymes, reduces vitamin content, denatures fragile milk proteins, destroys vitamins C, B12 and B6, destroys good bacteria, promotes pathogens. Experts link the pasteurization process to allergies, tooth decay, colic in infants, growth problems in children, osteoporosis, arthritis, heart diseases, and cancer.

Milk in general, regular and ‘organic,’ contains 59 active hormones, allergens, fat and cholesterol. Cow milk also contains herbicides, pesticides, dioxins – up to 200 times the safe level, 52 strong antibiotics, or 53 with LS-50, blood, pus, feces, bacteria, and viruses. Which kind of raises the question: “why do we need milk in the first place?”

5. Processed Fruit Drinks
“Fresh” juices are the biggest scams you’ll encounter at the grocery store. During the mass-production process, popular brands like Tropicana, Minute Maid, Simply Orange, and Florida’s Natural prefer adding artificial flavor so the juice can taste consistent from carton to carton. “It really rocks people’s world to learn that most orange juice is not a fresh product,” said Alisa Hamilton, author of “Squeezed: What You Don’t Want to Know About Orange Juice”. To protect orange juice from spoiling without adding chemical preservatives, companies “deaerate” the juice, or strip the oxygen out. Deaerated juice usually sits in million-gallon tanks for about a year before it is sold in markets. Not really “fresh”.

Another shocking investigation also found that the best known apple juice brands are packed with arsenic. Commercial American apple juice is made from apple concentrates, and 60% of the concentrates are imported from China. Many countries use pesticides that probably contain arsenic. It is a heavy metal that causes cancer and heart diseases.
